My suggestion for her 75 gallon tank is to aquascape it with black sand, quartz rock, and drift wood. No plants since the stock would be Silver Dollars and Buenos Aires Tetras.
The Buenos Aires Tetra (Hemmigrammus Caudovittatus) is a South American fish that will make a great addition to any community aquarium. It has a slender silver body with red fins. They are an hardy fish and can tolerate a large range of conditions and will be fine as long as extremes are avoided. Buenos Aires Tetras are plant eaters so the number of plants you can keep in the aquarium is limited, if you keep any at all. They should not be kept in groups of less then 10 specimens. For the best condition and colours, offer regular meals of small live and frozen foods such as bloodworms, daphnia and brine shrimp, along with dried flakes and granules. Some vegetable matter should also be included in the diet. Try spinach leaves or a good quality algae-based flake.
The round shape and silver color of its body lend the Silver Dollar (Metynnis argenteus) a very appropriate name. With a maximum size of 6", they are perfect for the larger community aquarium. This hardy characin will be a great choice for the beginner to the expert aquarist. Silver Dollars are herbivorous and thus need plenty of vegetable matter in their daily diet. Among their favored foods are vegetable flakes such as spirulina, lettuce, watercress, and cooked romaine or spinach. They will also eat cooked vegetables such as peas and squash. Silver dollars prefer subdued lighting, dark substrate, plenty of room to move about as well as some good hiding places. Because they will eat live plants, it's advisable to use plastic plants or none at all.
